Dzanan Musa

Scouting Report

An accomplished professional since he was 16 years old, Musa managed to lift his draft stock from a possible first rounder to a potential lottery selection with a solid showing in the Croatian League. It's mostly because of his abilities on the offensive end, where he is considered one of the top European scorers of his generation. The now 19-year-old has proven to be adept at getting to the rim while also possessing a strong pull-up jump shot, though Musa has room to improve in catch-and-shoot situations. He's a solid passer, moves well without the basketball and scouts believe he should be a capable shooter from 3-point range. While Musa should thrive offensively while playing multiple positions, he's likely to struggle on the defensive end. In the Croatian League, his technique, awareness and effort seemed to be lacking on most occasions, according to analysts. He's shown promise as a one-on-one defender at times, but doesn't appear willing to dig in consistently and NBA teams may have to hide him on that end of the court. Scouts also believe he'll have to bulk up considerably to handle the grind of an 82-game season. Musa is likely to be selected in the middle of the first round by a club that believes his offensive potential is worth overlooking his shortcomings.
